Letters claiming to contain anthrax arrived at the state offices of four Kentucky congressmen yesterday in what investigators later determined to be a hoax, the Associated Press reported (see GSN, May 7).
U.S. Representatives Geoff Davis, Brett Guthrie, Ed Whitfield and John Yarmuth all received suspicious envelopes. A letter sent to Guthrie indicated that there was anthrax in the envelope, a spokesman said. The letter received by David appeared to have been sent from a prison.
No actual anthrax had been found in the letters (Associated Press/Lex18.com, July 6).
