South Carolina Man Pleads Guilty to Bioweapons Plot

A 25-year-old South Carolina man on Tuesday acknowledged plots to go after government officials with biological weapons and to demolish a U.S. navy site, the Associated Press reported (see GSN, Jan. 14).

Steven Cucuzzella, of North Charleston, pleaded guilty in federal court to sending a threat by mail to destroy the Naval Brig near Charleston. Another charge of threatening to kill former President George W. Bush was dismissed.

Cucuzzella was arrested earlier this year. He could be sentenced to a maximum of 10 years in prison and fined $250,000 (Associated Press/Greenville Online, Oct. 14).
