Russian bombers conducted cruise missile test launches yesterday, demonstrating the further renaissance of the nation's strategic air forces, the Xinhua News Agency reported (see GSN, March 2).
Six Bear and Blackjack bombers participated in the exercise at the Pemboi test range.
"A few minutes ago, the last pair of bombers returned to their permanent bases after completing cruise missile training launches at Pemboi," said Air Force spokesman Lt. Col. Vladimir Drik. "It was the first training of the year. All targets at Pemboi were hit successfully" (Xinhua News Agency, March 20).
