The head of the organization that monitors compliance with the Chemical Weapons Convention met Monday with top officials in Bosnia-Herzegovina to discuss efforts by national governments to enforce the treaty (see GSN, Feb. 25).
Rogelio Pfirter, head of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, praised Sarajevo's "unwavering" commitment to the Chemical Weapons Convention, according to an OPCW press release. Pfirter stressed the role of national authorities designated by CWC states parties in carrying out their nations' treaty obligations (Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons release, June 25).
